We kindly remind you that for the current 2013 edition, we have changed the deadline for receiving the short-films. The new deadline for receiving them is September the 9th, please take it into account to do your homework during the summer time.
We hope that the horror that surrounds us inspire your twisted minds.

On the other hand, one of the most bizarre and entertaining shorts that have gone through this festival now has its place in the net.
Asier Abio’s Bariku Light, which won the audience award 2012 short-films contest semi-final, is now on YouTube. A fun gore gastronomic-feast-parody and with a good dose of sex which has had a significant presence in many international festivals and won a number of awards and is now available for all tastes. El Festival de cine de terror de Molins de Rei, junto con la ESCAC, nos vemos obligados a cancelar el concurso de cortometrajes para institutos del presente año debido a la baja participación. Esta iniciativa, abierta para estudiantes de bachillerato del territorio catalán y constituida para fomentar su creatividad a través del cine de género, volverá en la próxima edición ya que, para nosotros, la motivación de futuros artistas en el ámbito cinematográfico es de vital importancia, ahora, más que nunca, en Catalunya.

Así mismo, aprovechamos para recordar que la convocatoria del Jurado Joven está abierta y se pueden consultar las bases en nuestra web o siguiendo este link .
El Jurado se encargará de dar dos premios, por un lado el Premio Promofest del Jurado Joven al mejor cortometraje latinoamericano, y por otra, el Premio del Jurado Joven al mejor largometraje de la Sección Oficial. Los nombres de los cinco seleccionados se darán a conocer en octubre.

Por otro lado, estamos de enhorabuena, gracias a la colaboración con Cameo SL, el pasado 22 de mayo salió a la venta el DVD/blu-ray del film “Los viajeros de la noche” (Kathryn Bigelow, 1987) que incluye el corto ganador del Segundo Premio del Jurado y Premio del Público de la última edición del festival. El próximo mes de julio tendremos un nuevo lanzamiento con un nuevo cortometraje. Os mantendremos informados.

Fue en 2004. Casi una década después seguimos en la brecha sumando recuerdos, vivencias y experiencias.

Ese 2004, Jesús Franco aceptó nuestra invitación para asistir al Festival y dejarse homenajear y, de paso, formar parte del jurado del concurso de cortometrajes. Su inseparable Lina le acompañaba.

Cuando le invitamos no éramos conscientes de lo que nos esperaba. Todos sabíamos de él, de lo controvertido de su obra y de su voluntaria y premeditada desvinculación de la industria cinematográfica, que no del cine, de su prolífica producción, de su amistad con Fernando Fernán Gómez, de su apasionamiento por el jazz, de… y de… Pero no, no teníamos ni idea de que aquel sería un fin de semana tan intenso como entrañable del que saldríamos tocados para siempre. Cine, música, la misma vida; conversar con Jesús, su sola presencia, es algo que supera con creces las expectativas que se puedan tener de la relación con una persona a la que acabas de conocer. Y verlo llorar emocionado durante el homenaje… no hay palabras.

El tesoro más preciado del Festival es la carta de agradecimiento que nos envió a posteriori, escueta y explicita, sincera. Sin duda, esa carta es uno de los motivos por los que seguimos adelante.

Muchos no lo olvidarán por su obra, nosotros podemos añadir que por el honor de haberlo conocido.

1) DATES AND RULES UPDATED
The dates this year are from the 29th October to Sunday 3 November 2013.
We also announce that you can find in the site of the festival, duly updated, all bases of the different competitions organized by the Festival, i.e. the 12th Horror and Gore Short-films competition and the 3rd Feature Films competition. All these rules can be downloaded.

2) PROMOFEST PRIZE AND YOUNG JURY
The precarious economic situation is opening the way for new collaborations, though there have always been currently increased. These synergies enable many projects to stay alive with dignity. In our case, due to budget cuts, the audience economic award was taken away, and remains at present unfortunately. But, the prestigious distributor Promofest gave us the chance to relieve the situation, in a way, with a new award, which is free shipping to 50 festivals and competitions to be awardable for the best Latin American short-film throughout the Iberian Peninsula. The winner will choose by a new Young Jury, made up of young five young people between 18 and 25. We hope that such cooperation will increase in all areas of culture and slap on the Ministry of Culture’s face.

3) TRIBUTE 2013; censorship horror films
Lately, censorship has decreased significantly and this has been noted in countries so used to prohibit films as the UK, Finland, Norway, Iceland, Singapore and Australia, although many of them, including the U.S. , make the trick not to classy them to get rid of the problem, what notoriously damages films commerciality. Media professionals,distributors and exhibitors are, eventually prefer not to risk their investment if anyassociations or any other kind of group may challenge the film to prohibit it.

Citing moral, political, ethical, ideological etc.. some few individuals granted themselvesthe right from the ancient times to guide the crowd, in the interest of keeping them as closeas possible to savagery to be the leaders.

Interestingly, since Franco died, Spain hasn’t cut or ban many films but in the last twoyears, there have been at least one well known case that has alert the sector and the public. We don’t like that and we truly believe that this can put the culture at risk.

Therefore, in 2013 the Festival have decided to honor all the people that has been somehow affected in one way or another by the censorship in all its forms. Hence a retrospective dedicated to films that suffer it will be projected. We are looking forward to watch the full version …. as a gift to the public.

We like young directors’ success, especially when they are good friends of our Festival. In fact one of the main objectives of Terrormolins is just that, to do our bit to make that novice filmmakers who have participated in our Festival achieve their goals.
Therefore, it makes us very excited that firstly, Andy Muschietti is enjoying such a big success with his movie ‘Mama’, based on a short film that won several prizes in our Short Films Competition in 2009; in addition Eric Falardeau, has succeeded in distributing last year’s Feature Film winner “Thanatomorphose” in the Spanish market. The distributor Tyrannosaurus Entertainment has acquired the film rights and will edit and distribute the DVD which will include some extra contents such as an interview with Canadian director, a making-off and some of his previous short films.
The case of Andy Muschietti is amazingly spectacular. In December 2012 his first film ‘Mama’ was released in USA, through the sponsorship of Guillermo Toro, and since then it has been on top of the list for several weeks!
The short-film (called ‘Mama’ as well) already had a successful tour in 2009, especially in our Festival where it won many prizes, but having such a big impact on a global level, it is really remarkable. We are looking forward to watch the in Spain.

The final assessment of this edition is very satisfactory.
The increase of audience in all days has been certainly the most visible think, but the success of other activities such as the Friday of Shortfilms, the Horror and Gore Short Film Contest for schools, the Networking and the second Official Feature Section have also been a success.
In that sense, the Festival organization, want to thank you for the support we got, and especially to the audience has responded by attending at the 12 Hours Marathon, in shotfilms and all the week.
The festival Team start working on the edition 2013, it expects you to be as attractive as the one just completed.

Dos semana después de la resaca festivalera, ya solo nos queda dar las gracias a las más de 2300 personas que han llenado el Festival en estos 6 días de cine, pasión y sobretodo ilusión. De echo solo quedan 3 cosas por decir: El ganador del premio Filmin al mejor cortometraje, El ganador del premio en las sesiones a Institutos y el Premio del Público al mejor Largometraje. Recordaros que el Premio Filmin al Mejor Cortometraje se ha obtenido a través de los más de 250 votos que han recibido los cortometrajes de la Final de esta edición en la plataforma de cine online filmin.es.
El Ganador ha sido She’s Lost Control, de Haritz Zubillaga, con una nota media de 8,4.
El Ganador por parte de los alumnos de las 2 sesiones de Institutos ha sido Tous les hommes s’appellent Robert, de Marc-Henri Boulier [FR].
Por parte del público del Festival, la película ganadora del Premio del Publico 2012 ha sido para Excision de Richard Bates Jr.
Os dejamos con los saludos de Eric Falardeau, director de Thanatomorphose; Joko Anwar y Hannah Al Rashid, director y actriz de Modus Anomali; Andreas Marshal, diretor de Masks y de Martijn Smits y Erwin van den Eshof directores de Zombibi los cuales se pudieron ver antes de las proyecciones de sendas películas.
