LA GRANJA, directed by Ignacio Lasierra, has won the first prize of the jury, the X Horror and Gore Short Film Contest. The second prize was for FASE TERMINAL, directed by Marta Genoa. The prize for best make-up and FX was for ALASTOR, directed by Rafa Dengrá. Finally, the Victor Israel Prize for best performance has been ex-aequo for Pepo Oliva and Juanma Lara for LA GRANJA.
The best semi-finalist short film was QUÉDATE CONMIGO directed by Zoe Bassiatúa. The Audience Award was for the Argentinian short film DEUS IRAE directed by Pedro Cristiani.
The jury was formed by Jaume Ripoll, Filmin director; Gerardo Herrero, winner of the competition in 2010; Diego Lopez, “Brigadoon” responsible of the Sitges Film Festival and the “Buque Maldito” editor; David Jordan, Cardoterror director and member of the TAC (Terror in Catalonia) and Blai Morell, critic and journalist.
In addition, the short film PICNIC, from Gerardo Herrero, was the winner of the two special sessions for schools, where some of last year short films were projected.
